We must give OORV credit for a relatively open and honest post that conforms to a more realistic model of treasure hunting. It's an expensive business and takes capital. An average deep water salvage can cost $50-100K per DAY! My guess is this first amount will allow the team to possible get to the site. It now needs another $15M or so to conduct the first phase of salvage. Deep water salvage is time consuming. Think Air Force guys flying Predator drones, but it's guys or guy(singular) infront of a monitor with an arm collecting samples.
My read on the Nigel & brits they team up with is they have the ability to do higher volume deep water salvage, but it is capital intensive.
Congrats to ORRV, in a more positive step in what is a long trail and mountain. This is a longterm investment on a longterm project. About a year from now is a an estimate of when something of value might be available. Also remember, 4th quarter is still typhoon season in that part of the world and in and although it ends 11/30/2011, often rough seas and storms run into Jan/Feb.
