IHUB terminology---Transactions that occur at or closer to the bid are labeled as "sells"---at or closer to the ask are labeled "buys"---precisely in between are labeled "?"...

Perhaps from your point of view, but you could not have bought them had someone else not SOLD them.;-)

Now, the tricky part is the way mm's fill the trades. They can make it look like either a buy or a sell to help them control the trading interest. For example, if the bid is .3 and the ask is .315, and you place an order to buy 50000 shares at .315, they can give you 5000 shares at .315, raise the ask to .32 and the bid to .315, then fill the remaining 45000 shares at .315. This will show up as 5000 shares bought, and 45000 shares sold, whereas in reality they were ALL a buy at the ask at the time the order was placed. The same can happen in reverse, and they do it all the time, especially when they want to control the sp for any particular reason.
