I think it might be no more complicated than the Dell report juicing the market up to overbought levels, and then everyone but the bagholders getting out until July. I don't know if the top is tomorrow or next week, but I do think its close. I'll keep my core holdings (in case I'm wrong <g>), but the rest of the portfolio is going to cash, waiting for a chance to play a few bounces. IMHO

Agree. Liquidity is the key. I'm shocked by the amount of monthly parabolic charts. And I can't get rid of a feeling that a giant vacuum cleaner is about to suck up a lot of money out of this market.

And not that there is anything wrong with a lot of these companies, but the charts are insane. Energy sector parabolic charts are starting to fold, but there is still healthcare, homebuilders, and many many other sectors. And earnings look OK on the surface in some of them, but there is something definitely about to suck the money out of this market.

6000 hedge funds unwinding their 25 to 1 leveraged positions is certainly a good start to liquidity drain. And can seriously destabilize this house of cards financial system.

IMO, there are two opposite trends fighting each other out in the market:
-on the negative side: the tech incumbents' business models (IBM, MSFT, ORCL, CSCO, SUN) are being disrupted causing their CAPs to erode gradually.
-on the positive side: that disruption is caused by new innovative emerging players

Near term, I have no idea if the positive will outweigh the negative...hence the difficulty in forecasting the market. Yet long term (2-3 years) I'm confident the positive will outweigh the market

I will let the market tell us.

PS I'm inclined to say that from here the positive trend might be able to outweigh the negative one
