Outside of your broker fronting you shares to sell when "locked" by a split/corporate action you must put up 2.50 per share in margin. If I wanted to short 1 million shares of ENTI I would have to get a borrow and then put up 2.5 million dollars in margin. Obviously it makes shorting a subpenny stock a waste of time and money as you would make more in a risk free savings account.
