Doug, IBM says their POWER4 and POWER5 MCMs have 8 CPUs each:

So, again, the MCM (MultiChipModule, not MultiCulturalMasterpiece) package includes four POWER5 chips - eight real CPUs or 16 logical CPUs using SMT), and four L3 cache chips, each at 36MB, for a total of 144MB cache, for all of you stunned by the figure when we published the photo.

And in all of their system designations, "CPU" refers to a "core," not "chip," so a 32-way POWER5 system actually has 4 MCMs, or 16 "chips."

Maybe IBM is confused. But they are the market leader.
