Again, I would LOVE to be wrong, but that's what OTHER people think, not how the individual himself thinks.
Younger men & women will say someone is ready to "kick the bucket" and "look how old they are." But, go to any McD's mid-morning and sit down and listen to the good ol boys who meet there every day and hear what they say about THEMSELVES! They know they've lost a step, but they still think they could "teach that young punk a thing or two."
Howard is doing his life's work and that is partly what keeps him going. In his mind, why give it up? His generation was drilled to "finish the job and not be a quitter!"
No. It's just too soon and doesn't fit the normal pattern of a driven, hard-working man who wants to prove to the world he was right - AND WANTS TO MAKE SURE HIS PRODUCT (his baby) GETS PROPERLY INTRODUCED.
All IMO, I don't know the guy but just using common "people sense."
