I have been wondering for a while why it has taken so long for Ariad to get the 113 trial started.

They've never explained this, but my assumption is that they are waiting for a long-term animal tox study. Given they started talking about this drug so long ago, I think it must have been a financing issue that delayed it - if only they had abandoned their stupid patent suit they would have saved more than enough to pay for it.
