the land it is on is held by a landowner. She is not one of the wealthy landowners that wants BCL back. Perhaps you know of her. She owns the land, not BLC-Rio. They leased it

Everyone and their mother in PNG knows the mine is owned by Bougainville Copper. Joanne Dateransi owns the mine as much as I own the World Trade Center property now that I own a residence directly across the street.

And to be honest, if she really did own it, she wants zero mining in the area because of the environmental damage that happened in the past.
