Well there is a connection, and you should've seen futures jump when Obama came out with the speech. Of course I wasn't talking about LKEN, but the markets in general.
Heres the connection:
When theres' fear of anything, markets go down, when that "fear" is gone, markets shoot up.
Fear: 9/11. Caused a recession and a crash in US markets where investors were selling all equities and selling/shorting stocks.
Fear removed: Death of Osama. Will cause "Excitement" on wall street as "The world is a safer place", will get sectors like the airline industry shooting up for sure IMO.
As for the movie Pelham 123, what they were really doing by making that movie is pretty much doing a remake of what happened on 9/11 but on a smaller scale. On 9/11, due to fear, investors were pulling out of all equites, and were shorting industries, especially the airline sector, while moving their cash into Gold and commodity markets. This was due to the fear that an attack on the US could devalue the currency. The massive buying of commodities then caused the price of Gold to sky rocket and allowing investors in the bullion to come out with big gains. Now how this worked in Pelham 123. The guy Denzel ford or w.e his name was a multi million/billionaire who had all his assets etc. seized and was imprisoned or something I believe. When he came out, he moved the remaining millions of dollars he had into gold markets to regain his wealth. What he knew was that a terrorist act on WALL STREET....will cause major panic and fear selling, and people will be moving out of stock equittes and into commodities. He threatened to kill the passengers of the train unless he received the 10 million or so (limit of withdrawal from the treasury or something). He didn't really want the 10 million, what he really wanted was panic and buying of gold buillion. This is what he accomplished and this got him back to his high point of wealth, only to be brought back down at the end, but hey atleast he died after he accomplished his goal right?
Don't get any ideas of bombing a new york train lol,,,that was a movie and I believe it was a little exaggerated what happened with the gold markets.
