Unbiased speculation on the financing. Everything is possible for a liquid stock in a momentum sector. So far they raised $1.5m+ and they have surely chances to raise much more on a NON-DILUTIVE scenario, since CEO has pledged 10 millions of his own shares for financing purposes.

"Our next step is to close on our second round of financing, which we anticipate will be in the $5-million range. We are currently in negotiation with certain firms that we feel comfortable with, and who are also interested in our long-term growth."

What is clear to me is that since the company must show proof to regulators about all their statements, I give much more credit to the CEO than not to you.

In regards your short holdings, you are in a comfortable position if you really sold from 9.70 to 10.50, and you may have big chances to capitalize here with some patience. But you know what happen to greedy investors, right? don't be the last to sell, or the last to cover. Things can change in seconds.
