OT Gasoline taxes far higher in Europe than US.

There is a large tax on gasoline and oil, but a tax burden falls on consumers who drive and rely on roads (infrastructure) to go to work or vacation, or have packages or food delivered to their door or local supermarket.

Gasoline costs far more in Europe than in US as it is more directly tied to funding roads the gas is used to drive on. In the US, infrastructure upkeep usually comes from another budget.

There probably should not be so many loopholes in the tax system that allow large corporations pay little or no taxes on large earnings. (e.g., GE)

More taxation might reduce jobs. However, how does investing heavily in tax lawyers help a company increase production, generate new ideas, or increase efficiency?

Think of the cost savings if you don't pay lobbyists to take politicians out to lunch.
