the market makers themselves and can manipulate the share price virtually at will by controlling the B/A in spite of what the market is saying.

Do you think that is an accurate statement, or is it something that investors say when they are mad their stock didn't climb?

If a stock's FMV is at $10, what benefit does it give to the market maker's to hold it down at $1 and quench and momentum it might build?

*EDIT* I'm not disagreeing with your quote, just curious as to why MM's play these games.
