To further clarify,

"The Ecosphere Ozonix process is the only 'non chemical' fracturing process that can effectively kill bacteria at the high flow rates needed during fracturing operations."

And further correct the pseudo science statements frequently made by the snake oil pseudo science community, ozone is a chemical, it has a molecular structure, it is highly reactive, very toxic, and is regulated by the EPA as a toxic air pollutant (toxic chemical).

These "non-chemical" process claims are pure non sense.

A very large part of the air pollution industry is focused on reducing smog levels in order to reduce ozone concentrations in the lower atmosphere. Ozone is produced in the atmosphere near ground level by the reaction of UV light from the sun, as the UV reacts in a complex cascade reaction path first with, VOCs, NOx, and tiny dust particles (industrial and auto exhaust sources) and then with oxygen, thus producing O3, ozone. Ozone is toxic to breath in very small amounts. That is why it is regulated as a toxic chemical air pollutant.

"Ozone, the first allotrope of a chemical element to be recognized, was proposed as a distinct chemical substance by Christian Friedrich Schönbein in 1840, who named it after the Greek verb ozein (??e??, "to smell"), from the peculiar odor in lightning storms.[1][2] The formula for ozone, O3, was not determined until 1865 by Jacques-Louis Soret[3] and confirmed by Schönbein in 1867.[1][4]"

Ozone is a 3 atom allotrope of oxygen.

Anything with mass, that is at least a single element, and has at least a single atom, is a chemical, and has chemical properties. You must get down to the pure elemental particle state, like electrons, protons and neutrons, and lower (sub atomic), to no longer be considered a chemical substance.

The only true nonchemical methods of reducing biological activity (like what a biocide does) would be direct radiation (electron bombardment, or UV light bombardment), or heat treatment, or pumping through a strong magnetic field. But, all these can also cause chemical changes, and produce new chemicals with different properties, that can lead to other environmental, pollution, toxicity problems.
