Southern California is on the verge of becoming a city in itself, stretching from Santa Barbarbra to San Diego and east to Banning

Sounds like the predictions made in the mid-sixties about the Megapolis that the Northeast was becoming... one giant urban center stretching along the coast from Boston to Washington, D.C. I think we are just about there now.

Inyo county and brushes with the famously demented.

I spent 90 days in the Inyo County jail house one summer in the midst of my mis-spent youth. (Won't you please tell the Man I never hurt anyone, I was just tryin' to have me some fun)
I was in the same cell they kept Charlie in. I wondered why they had bars welded over this little vent...turns out the little schit squeezed through it trying to escape. He was stuck in the attic and obviously didn't make it.

The lady guard that is in the movie Helter Skelter was still there.
