I share his perspective to an extent, but our discussion here is hands down better than anything else out there on the internet. But, he's exactly right that if there is shorting going on, then some people today helped them out by allowing themselves to be scared out of some shares. The shakedown worked.
It's clear to me when I see the bid/ask at close, then afterhours, then premarket in the morning all of a sudden turns down, then I'm suspicious. When you saw the bid/ask this morning, you could tell that was the range it would trade at for the day.
What shows strength to me is that we closed pretty much at the high of the day and above the range the MM's would appear to have wanted us to trade today.
Anyway, I'm surprised he said that about MM's, as I agree with you it seems uncharacteristic.
That said, I'm more interested in the strong statement at the end about the shorts knowing their time to cover is short.
I say they just got put on notice, but I'm still not even 100% convinced a significant short position exists. I don't know.
But, he's alluding to their being some coming disclosure or event that sounds pretty huge if he thinks there's a short position out there that will be forced to cover.
