AccuBrite FREEINK4LIFE Ink Cartridge Refill Kit
Woot by Wootbot on February 15, 2008 at 12:00 AM

Everybody hates paying exorbitant prices for printer ink, right? Well, here comes FreeInk4Life, stepping from the shadows to show you what’s under its overcoat. They say this kit includes $800 worth of ink, plus a membership to the FreeInk4Life program. We suspect there’s some creative accounting going on, but whatever. Unless you’re a squid, it’s probably going to be the cheapest ink you’ll get your hands on.

Only question is, do you want to deal with a company that takes you for an idiot? Even the very name “FreeInk4Life” is a little on the shady side, because if you want any more refills, they’re ten bucks a pop. For, you guessed it, shipping and handling. It’s like opening a restaurant called “Free Food” and charging people to rent the silverware.

But that’s nothing compared to the weird “start your own home ink-filling business” angle they’re pushing here. We’re having trouble figuring it out, but it seems like you’re supposed to buy this kit, sign the people around you up to the program, and surf to prosperity on a wave of low-cost ink. It’s perfect for you if your only problem with Amway is that they offer too wide a range of products. As for us, we’d rather our friends and family looked forward to seeing us instead of fleeing from another unwanted sales pitch, but perhaps we’re just sentimental.

You don’t have to swallow the entrepreneurial hokum to use the ink, though. We just wish they’d come clean and called it CheapInk4Life – or, better yet, CheapInkUntilWeGoOutOfBusiness.
