TRENTON — Former New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine has traveled to Nigeria to help oversee parliamentary elections there.

Corzine spokesman Josh Zeitz tells the Star-Ledger of Newark that the former governor is there with the National Democratic Institute, a nonprofit group that promotes democracy. His contingent includes former elected officials from around the world.

Elections were originally scheduled for April 2 but were delayed a week.

Corzine now runs a hedge fund. He has mostly disappeared from public life since he lost a re-election bid in November 2009 to Republican Chris Christie.
