Lane.. great commentery on Carter..and what you point out shows the duplicity and demogoguing(sp) nature so many have. Again it goes to my point of tolerating corruption, and unfairness in our gov. No, im not that naive, and know those things wont go away, but we should at least as a scoiety make efforts to clean things up. (Comments not directed at anyone here)
Hey and at least in NJ, Torricelli was voted out. (not that i like lautenberg) oops..ok nuff politics from me.
Corruption: Cramer is out this morning saying that JPM morgan and Citibank problems are not problems, and that were tired of scandals..so we should buy them he says...
Cramer ..a great example of what's wrong!!!

"But to deny the sincerity of his faith and the intensity of his effort to wrestle with the Bible and live a Christian life"
---------------------------------------------------------------
Lane...

I do not have problems with Carter's faith even though I would come from a more conservative position than he - that is between him and God, as it should be. Nor do I have any problem whatsoever with his commitment to helping his fellow man. His work with Habitat for Humanity and other humanitarian efforts have been all that one could ask. I most certainly do not see him as an (or "the") antichrist - he does not fit the description at all.

My problem with Carter was (and is) primarily with his naivete and inability to distinguish between good and evil, lies and truth. Those are not good traits for a national leader in our times where discernment is a key ability to have. He is receiving the Nobel Prize not for his work for peace, but as a slap to our current President and he is unable (or unwilling) to see that he is being used once again.

In my eyes the only good thing that came from Carter was the Camp David accords between Egypt and Israel, and that was indeed worthy of praise, yet that is not why he is getting the award. He is being feted on the international scene for his unwise and unwanted interference in US international affairs and his criticism of his country and its policies, both internal and international. His embracing and acceptance of such leaders as arafat and various tyrants around the world while he denigrates his own country's battles against them is sheer foolishness and cannot be attributed to a Christian viewpoint, in my opinion.

This is not the place for such a conversation, I guess, but I feel strongly that Carter has been more of a detriment to this nation of ours than a benefit. I will leave all determination of his moral and religious life to God, who judges all men - it is not my place to make such judgements.

Lane --OT--OT,, Carter was a very weak Pres. No problem with his faith,, more should follow his footsteps in that direction. He is weaker in mind than ever. People actually believe he is more than a walking fool. He should speak on nothing more than religion & peanuts or be institutionalized.
