My pick for the current number two organization to the UFC right now is King of the Cage. They have produced the most fights of any MMA organization and they have almost weekly events. They also have some pretty good fighters at the top of their fight cards while often showcasing up and coming amateurs on the undercard.
Bellator has disappointing TV ratings and for some reason, their events just don't seem all that exciting to me. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bellator close shop in the next year or so.
bellator is around its peek. there business model is not exactly as large as UFC or proelite. they have a product out, obviously. but it is not geared toawrds a huge promotion. Its made for tv. like american gladiators. Its not like theres american gladiator events that dont get aired. they put out just enough product to fill the tv show. UFC, Proelite types will have hundreds of fighters, fighting all the time. on tv or off.
