Question for ANYONE:
I am still trying to learn the stock market system and have a question.

If a company is trying to raise more money, why do they issue more stocks, which as I understand it hurts the current shareholders, as apposed to doing a split which would make the stock more attractive (due to the lower pps) for other investors?

Any help understand this would be greatly appreciated.
