Because it would have been illegal and Maurice Greenberg has no reason to risk a jail sentence for something like this.

I posted about this possibility several times, ages ago, back in August & September ........

"I know this may not be a reasonable thing or even likely that this happened, but another thing I was thinking. Is it at all possible that this may have been a set up by Starr all along? Maybe they knew about all the short attacks or even planned them and shorted the hell out of the stock above $20 with some off shore accounts and planned on going after CCME after the tumble to get out and try and get even more money due to the agreement with Starr's first purchase."

Since we are halted with no viable news in the foreseeable future I'll indulge...

Yes, it is possible. We are talking hundreds of millions of dollars. Most people would do anything for that much coin. I certainly would not rule anything out - especially from a man that has played this game longer than I have been alive.

That said, I am not under the belief that this is the case. I believe this is a small, inexperienced company that made a lot of money through some practices that in the U.S. may not seem appropriate, but may be common in China. The revenues and growth rate led to being sloppy. The CFO probably dipped in the cookie jar. DTT quit because the CFO was unable/unwilling to comply with everything. The CFO quit in order to not be fired - as is expected if DTT quit. Dorothy quit because of conflict of interest issues with the two Starr lawsuits. I suspect they will get another CFO and auditor, problems will be found - though no where near the magnitude the shorts believe - but the stock may get bumped to pinks or at the very least take a huge hit because of the drama more than the facts.

People like Starr watched this unfold and had the money and resources to take financial advantage of the situation. They could easily have shorted in the 20's and got caught off guard by the halt. For organizations like them it is about making money at anyone's expense however they can.

There is a VERY small group of people that know the truth - and we are not among them. Its just a wait and see game at this point.
