well it seems that the majority of the damage is localized, but 60 Minutes gave images of de-railed trains and demolished buildings from some of the areas that were hit hardest. The special focused on a survival story in an elementary school in a quaint vacation town that was destroyed by the tsunami. A gymnasium was transformed into a crypt filled with 87 school children and instructors. It was very emotional.

Right now the big threat to the country is coming from nuclear reactors. It's hard to tell whether or not the situation is getting better or worse. I think the military could be hiding just how bad the situation really is. There are people working night and day to try and cool the reactors down, and news reports are suggesting that those workers might not survive.

Tokyo is downwind from the reactors, so there is no telling how better or worse the situation could get. It's very sad.
