One of the possible scenarios I've been chewing on is that CCME asked for the halt because there is some sort of investigation underway that is out of their hands, but which significantly limits their ability to communicate right now. For example, SEC investigating naked shorting, focused on CCME, and then told CCME that for now they can't comment on certain things related to an ongoing investigation. Eventually CCME says, look, if we can't comment while these hitpieces and bear raids continue, then please halt until we can respond. That might explain a "halt on pending news" but then no news for a while.
