Paul, you're reading it correctly, but from what I recall I think Stiller might be wrong in that current DC Opteron might internally have been refered to as K9, while the new cpu design scheduled for 2007 should be K10. By the way I was being a bit cynical in that Stiller can't know K10 (quad core) performance if he is not likely to know much at all about the design.

Not only that, it is a quad core without much in the way of enhancements. I think the "processor that follows the K8 that isn't just a dual core", whatever it is being called today, will have some changes from the current K8 core. No, I don't know what they are going to be, but I doubt if it will perform like a current 4-way, but be on a single chip. Now I personally think that AMD should go ahead and do a quad core chip, just in case that the PTFKTIJDC runs into some problems, but...
