(edit) SS ~ U might wish to study on that a bit more. Laws are made to effect change of one kind or another...escape from religious tyranny being one example.

"Life, liberty, and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it was the fact that life, liberty, and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place."

SilverSurfer -- of course, 'life, liberty and property' was the original formulation by Locke, back when 'property' could and did include human beings held as slaves or indentured servants -- and also of course, the Founders, in particular Jefferson and Franklin, expressly rejected that formulation, instead using 'life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness' in the Declaration of Independence -- so that idiotic piece you invoked, citing that statement by Bastiat you quoted, is pure asshat fantasy not, and never, properly applicable to this nation (and see in particular [items linked in] http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=3967329 and preceding and following, and http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=54833454 and preceding and following)
