Like I said, self-injectable systems exist already -- ask anyone who has an epinephrine "pen" for bee sting or peanut allergy. And the needle-free injection technology has greatly improved and nanoparticles ought to be ideal for that system. So yes, if I were living in Africa or Latin America I would certainly want to have a nice package of 'cides in my medicine cabinet.

But for people living in developed nations, being able to drive to the grocery store's walk-in clinic to get a shot of 'cide when I start getting the symptoms seems perfectly reasonable. And most doctors aren't going to want to just write a prescription without seeing the patient.
