I'd prefer them sold direct. Cut out the middle man and another person to cut into the profits and drive up the cost. Purchasing online equals no TAXES. Not finding something I want in Walmart or the rip-off retail stores doesn't bother me ONE BIT. I don't have to use gasoline and fight a bunch of idiots on the way there and wait in line in the store. If you can't live without a piece of optional electronics for a couple of days then that's very sad.
