I read AOuvier's post and thought about what I posted there (Yesterday?) :-)

I don't know what these people are thinking ... sad, very sad ...

Hey Pascal/Aouvier

I guess people out (not you Pascal) there think that there are no costs for MM's to do business. There is a cost to the MM as well, for tickets written. I guess they think that the MM's have no charges because they are special. I wish that were true. The average charges for a wholesale MM (when we got paid as a pct of what we made) was on average 30% of total P&L. Mine were generally lower (around 20%) due to the fact that I traded with large positions and I traded against the street a lot as opposed to just trading the orders. For example if I made $100,000 trading in a month my take would be "x" pct of that number less my charges which ranged from 20% to 40%. So if I made 20% my take would be $100,000 less the $20,000 in charges which equals $80,000 times my 20% take which would be $16,000. For most it would be $14,000 as the avg is 30%. Conversely If I lost $100,000 a month I would then owe the company $20,000 + the charges of $4,000 for a total of $24,000.
