Elmer: I think you did. I called AMD's choice of SOI for Hammer a "hail Mary" and you said the same arguments could be made for SS. That says to me you were implying comparable risk.

As long as you are insisting on obtuseness, let me correct you. Your original post said in part:

SOI has never been done in high volume manufacturing. You won't find anything specific to AMD, other than rumors, but there are many articles in the literature that speak of the difficulties of using SOI. High cost, low yields and possible reliability problems are mentioned.

These were the issues that I said could be argued similarly for strained silicon and low-k. Incidentally, do you have some references to "the literature" to which you refer regarding the difficulties of using SOI? You clearly stated that there were many articles that speak of this. I would like to read some.

The reference to "Hail Mary" was my extension of your absurd metaphor to a higher degree of absurdity. I frankly do not equate the cliche "hail Mary" to measure of risk.
