hello greengold

It sounds like you are planing at stepping into the market at this time
If this is true a word of caution
AD was talking about watching the s+p 500 for 1273 thats down from where we are if we get there ?
my 2 cents worth is for you to pick a small hand full of stocks you like watch how they trade ,get to know how they trade and then when you feel the time is right just go in with a small amount
dont go all in at first
test the waters first
if that works then next time put more on the table
go slow there is always a new trade down the road
the trade you are looking at today is not the last one
there are some very good traders here so ask if you need help
good luck

Hey green, welcome aboard!

First let me say congrats on the Superbowl. What a game that was!

How are you on reading charts? I can give you a link where it will teach you the technicals and what they mean and what to look for absolutely free. If you do have any questions on a particular techincal, please feel free to ask.

Thank you for your kind words as well. I may have to add to that sticky post at some point as well but so far it's accomplishing what I wanted it to. Options is a much different game than stocks. But they sure are fun.

One thing we like to advocate here, AD was the first to say it, is specialize in a particular area. Become an expert in one before you think about venturing into different areas. My forte is options. There are others that specialize in a particular sector whether it be precious metals or something else. Some specialize in commodities and trade futures on cocoa, rice, wheat, etc. But for me, I prefer the options game.

It sounds like you have some good historical data. I read an article yesterday where a guy went and tried to get a job with Steve Cohen in with the applicant said that he used data going back 50 years to recognize trends. He would then capitalize on any opportunity if he found a reoccuring trend. Steve Cohen said that he loved historical data. This comes from one of the richest men in the country. It looks like you have a solid start and a good head on your shoulders.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask. We like to help everyone succeed here.

Welcome Green!

I the newbie here, been trading for many years and started option trading in Jan.

My little advise is watch what some of the these guys here are trading. It doesnt matter if they are trading options or stocks they can be valuable either way. Some quick example, and they are many, AH started calls on Ford around 14-15's, correct me if I am wrong AH, and we ended in the 18.00's. That would have been a nice 12% gain in a couple of months. Auro, Moe, Rythmm and many other will tell you where they think is going.

IAMCPL1 Loniee, Pump Matt and many other have great regular stock picks.

To sum this up some times the best way to learn is to mirror some one that great at what they do. And the other thing they all have is very good skills in chart reading. I was a fundemental trader but stocks can have great fundemental, and the will play out, but the if you dont chart read you wont know when. Now you have a great stock that out of favor.

Oh yea! Ask a lot of questions, these guys are very humble and truthful about their opions, but in the end it's your decisions.

Best
