#7953 RE: Jagman #7951

OT Jag,

I expect Nuke Power has to make a come back. It has very little on size. The cost of regulators (because we couldn't/didn't want to regulate ourselves) became over burdensome. The last 2 nukes I started up both carried a price tag of 5+ billion. Even at a million a day, 5 billion is a large chunk of change to come by.

The good news is that while no nukes have been started in 15+ years in the US, designs have not stood still. The next generations of plants are looking at smaller with a different fuel architecture that has a much slower reaction time.

There has been precious little improvement in the US energy infrastructure in the last 2 decades. We have seen the results over the last couple of years on both the East and West coasts.

There has been a couple of coal fired plants, but that is about it. All the time our Electrical energy appetite has been nothing but increasing. The Utilities have been playing a giant shell game. If a plant goes down, they can steal from the grid, but the more aged the plants, the more maintenance required. We will be seeing more brown-outs or worse before the American public finally shouts down the hysterical environmentalists. For now anyway the NIMBY mentality has won the day. Remember, if we started today, not a single megawatt would be added to the grid before 2012, that is if we push.

Now as far as stock picks. You're asking for insights from a guy who thinks a 3 cent stock was a good choice in investment??? you need to set your sights a little higher for stock advice. I could recommend my trash collector, if you wish.

Thanx for your interest
