With its most recent quarterly report now public, we see two completely different stories emerging in the quest for Local search customers. Yahoo continues to hand out pink sheets and shed employees as its top-line fell another 12%. Meanwhile over at Google the top line revenue jumped 26% as they recently announced plans to hire another 6,000 employees. Google continues to make an aggressive move into the Local search market by hiring phone salesman and changing its local search results to show fewer organic results as well as launching new products like Tags and Boost.
So what does this all mean as it relates to TheDirectory.com network customers. Basically we continue to spend a large part of our Ad budget with Google at this point, but deep within the Yahoo results there was a glimmer of hope relating to display ads. Yahoo saw display ads increase by 16% and unique users jump by 13%. So the Yahoo story is far from over. We think the BING partnership will be a net positive for our customers and open up a different ad channel as the full effects of the arrangement are rolled out. At this point our sites continue to achieve organic page one rankings on all three search engines for many important keyword queries. We continue to test and integrate tools from all three search engines as well as some other partners to generate local patients.
