I don't think it is a good idea to halt stock trading when a hit piece comes out. That would be a really bad precedent. Someone could stake a position before the hit piece, publish, close the position and be gone before the halt, not to mention any number of other ways to profit if one could get the company to request a halt through one or more options expiration dates. Bad idea.
