Here is my first post dude...been in and out of this just like you...Like i said....Nothing wrong with taking profit for as long as you are not whacking the pps ( which i hope you are not.
I have a little over 2M on this curently and all are freebies.

APPS will always be compatible with current and future as long as they will have the same OS. Apps resides on top of the OS much like your browser. So i would not even worry about compatibility.
Worry about the hardware products from apple if they do not perform well.
