It really isn't that hard to understand.

I agree

1st shipment - initial order for chain. Was it large enough to fill all the Spartan stores (that they own - 96 as well as their franchise affiliates? which is nearly 400 per Spartan's website)

Probably not......(actually seems clear it wasn't that'd be nearly 6,000 bottles or 500 boxes x 12 4 oz bottles per box)

Did Spartan's 're-order' to 'replenish' their warehouse?

(definition: To fill or make complete again; add a new stock or supply to: example: replenish the larder. Read more: http://www.answers.com/topic/replenish#ixzz1DhgFQOoG)

Absolutely imo.......

---------

In the case of Spartan, the participating stores are not all corporately owned, but rather in a wholesale supply relationship. Thus, we do not yet have the means to distinguish between “re-stocking” activity and initial fill being made from our shipments. This may evolve as the account operations evolve.

WNBD ships to Spartans (Corporate warehouse)

Spartans handles distribution to its stores or affiliated stores

WNBD does not ship direct to individual stores (within Spartans)

In fact Eric already addressed this in the original blog Oct 12th

A further 4,032 (4 oz) bottles have been ordered today by Spartan as a replenishment for the new listing. An encouraging aspect of this replenishment is that Winning Colours was only starting to appear on Spartan shelves gradually over the summer as the stores were “reset” in the applicable section to receive this new SKU. This limited the exposure and selling time during the 3rd quarter in this banner.

4,032 bottles divided by 12 in a box is only 336 boxes.

There are muli-levels even with a chain like Spartans and add on top of that the Spartans to independent store level....

Have some stores sold zero bottles in a month or even three months - that's possible. But you also thought it costs $1.00 to make a Pocket Pak ($50,000 for 50,000 paks).

Seems relationship is entering phase where increase awareness (by both Spartans and WNBD) can help Winning Colours potential sell through the chain.

We have an excellent relationship with Spartan. Winning Brands appreciates the opportunity that their decision to add the 4 ounce bottle (for starters) to their re-sets represents. Now that the originally targeted stores all seem to have their inventories and everything is in place, there will be marketing cooperation of various kinds to bring attention to the presence of Winning Colours Stain Remover in these stores. There will also be experimentation with price points in promotions to develop statistics for marketing strategies. In-store merchandising techniques of various kinds are being discussed with Spartan now to stimulate velocity at the shelf during 2011.

WNBD has experience of what works in 'other' stores and locals. Whether Spartan chooses to adapt and more actively 'promote' and assist (or allow certain things) will determine in part how successful the product may become within its stores.
