But if they buy shares now and then file form 3's wouldn't it show the date and the price it was bought?

I'm not positive, but I think not. Here is a random form 3:

It does not look like a date is required other than "Date of Event Requiring Statement". I'd image they could just use the date they decide to file (if ever). Anyone know differently, please chime in.
