There's a fine line there between drawing attention and being silly....and making sure you're drawing the RIGHT kind of attention from the RIGHT people.
You've always got to think about who you are and what you're trying to accomplish.
We're not selling beer or cigarettes, that's simply funny or cute to the masses because it has hot chicks drinking it or smoking it. That's where the 'off the wall attention' angle works.
At the end of the day, you've got to be professional and have client's trust if you're a brokerage firm. That's where the money's coming from -- your underlying client base that's a group of hardcore/serious traders, not the general public. You need to appeal to 'them.'
I'm not so sure I'd fork over my hard-earned money to a brokerage firm that was sorta-kinda-maybe auctioning off a 5% equity stake on eBay 'just for attention.'
Looks flakey.
I think we've already got some top-notch marketing ideas in the plan. We simply have to get up and going and execute on each one of them (obviously, I'm pushing on getting us up.. ;) )
Let's focus on delivering an excellent product that the online trader needs/wants. Few excellent marketing pushes and bada bing bada boom, you've got your moola.
