One of the great American aspirations has been to be a doctor. Twenty years ago that meant someone had the time and financial incentive to truly take care of a patient. Today it means eight minutes (the average visit), and less money per hour than Joe the Plumber.

My family has generations of doctors, back to the Civil War and earlier. It's been a proud *vocation* in my family, a calling, not a 'job' or even a career. My 13 y.o. daughter wants to become a doctor, but I don't know what to tell her. The illness exploitation industry has made such a wreck of our healthcare system, it's ruined it for people who just want to help other people feel better.
