I don't call them junk...But others probably call them junk because of the condition the majority of these coins are in. Many have decades of circulation and are so worn as to not being good for anything but melting down into bullion. Hence the label junk. Also, not all .925 fine sterling silver is jewelry. British commonwealth coins before 1921 were mostly .925 (and many since). I picked up as many Victorian crowns and Edwardian half crowns as I could on Ebay UK last summer. Also, many german marks before 1909 are .913 fine, and older Mexican 8 Reales/Pesos are .9037 fine. The differing silver content in these large silver coins makes it hard to say how much silver I own. Many are worth more than thier melt values anyway. Values that keep on rising...along with the general trend in silver value. GLTA...Hanglong.
