What you're describing is called a pump and dump, and happens to be illegal.

It's only illegal if the news is FABRICATED for the sole purpose of pushing up the stock for the insiders to "dump". Happens all the time in mining stocks, check out SAEI, where they faked a buyout at 1.75/share and went from 2c to a dollar and now back to 2c. Now thats a pump & dump.

This situation is different. The news is legit, but being mishandled by the company(more dilution) in their desperation to raise cash at any price for the commercials at the expense of purchasers of the shares. They coulda put out a couple PR's over time, let some momentum and interest be generated in the stock and then "slowly" sold into the run to raise some money if they had to...but they are screwin up with this massive dump IMO
