Don't Feed the Monkeys

It is hazardous to your portfolio. Stop Orders and Panic Selling are their Life blood.

Anyone who uses a stop order on a Pinkie for anything other than catastrophic protection is inviting trouble. When those stops are taken out by the MM's, you will soon realize it is temporary and if you want to buy back in, it will usually be at a higher price and you will lose the almighty share volume that is very precious in your accounts in the process. Nothing was gained, only contributed. I am an advocate of some stops but only for Catastrophic Protection PERIOD. Many people have gotten gotten burned on Stops ever since the 08 market crash due to a misunderstanding and impproper usage. Currently nothing can stop shorty from walking way down to grab those stops ( as they are VERY visible to them and will chase them down especially if there are a few biggies not to far away from the trading range) and running it right back up.

In these “tree shaking” episodes the goal is to get the shareholders with the weakest stomachs to sell. There currently is no “uptick rule” in existence to ban these tree shakings designed to trip stop loss orders and induce panic selling. The short sellers also plant the seed in the minds of shareholders that the next time the PPS gets to “X” level I’m going to sell as my stomach can’t handle this roller coaster.

Bottom Line is:
