Not true, or always true. I sold a stock at market through e*trade at 0.000001, or maybe 0.0000001, I don't remember, but it showed up as a $0 transaction, and I had to call e*trade because my account wouldn't show any details regarding it. They said because the transaction was $0, they were unable to take a commission fee, so they just wrote it off.
