The underlying geology for Lucky and for Rusty Ridge are very different. The Lucky property appears to be sitting on a massive area that may contain low levels but large quantities of copper and that extends for miles in all directions, hence the Cornerstone properties to the north and south with Lucky in the middle. It therefore made sense for VALE to claim the entirety of this area for further exploration. Rusty on the other hand was a highly contained IOCG opportunity which at the time would not have made sense for VALE to surround as the surrounding geology would not have much if aything related to the IOCG opportunity.
