I think a desperate attempt would be categorized as promising a huge run, huge PR or huge sales numbers weeks ahead of the shoes actually shipping. There has been no hint or indication from the company what any production numbers might be. That's not a good sign, and anyone throwing out lofty numbers is setting themselves up for disappointment.
