Yep...and with continuously rising energy costs year over year the solar option is becoming more economically feasible. IMO if there were more home and commercial builders that incorporated solar power solutions into their structures from the original design stage onwards then the industry would have more traction.

I'm not a big fan of government intervention into the free market but I do believe this is one area where they could assist the country with some housing code changes that incorporate energy efficiency standards and energy production standards for newly built structures. WE HAVE TO GET OFF OUR dependence on fossil fuels and solar is our very best option for alternative energy to date. The peak oil scenario will make us independent of fossil fuels whether we like it or not...the debate is the timing of that move.

Some people see this technology as some new idea or fancy new technology. Using the Sun's power every day for what we need to live is as old as a concept and practice as the history of the planet. Solar power technology only helps us capture and store what nature gives us freely everyday. We are cheating nature and have built a world where massive energy is needed to sustain it through the use of non-renewable fossil fuels. Solar can't fully replace oil with supplying today's energy needs as oil is a freak of nature per se in how powerful it's efficiency and the science behind it.

When gas prices triple in the next 6 months as a result of hyperinflation then we will really see a push for solar installations.
