krays: Sure, managed direct is called a redirect. They are also using their synonym "partial indirect" to mean the same thing - that is all new language. Managed direct is very commonly used because it has advantages of both direct and indirect.

She said their counsel had not yet determined if partial indirect encoding was covered by their patents.* Obviously, that is not the criteria for moving forward. She is making the right decision because these can be read on any QR code reader.

When you listen again, capture what she said about UPCs and managed direct.

*If it is, previous management really missed the ball on this one. They have lost a great deal of revenue.

Partial Indirect/Managed Direct Codes: a code containing both a fully formatted URL so it can be read, like a direct code, by any mobile code reader that is capable of reading a mobile code’s symbology and an index, so that when it is sent to the site indicated by the URL it functions in the manner of an indirect code.
