That's what I was refering to. The cache on the Mobo being called L3. I remember hearing about this but it never seemed to make a difference and AMD moved on to the Athlon.
I stand corrected on the L2 on the K6-3. True, AMD has never proven they can get 512k on a die and yield well. I don't think Barton was really mean't to be but when AMD couldn't get good enough yields on the hammer core to offer a Clawhammer on schedule they had to resort back to producing Barton on the desktop as a stop gap measure. I think that's pretty much the gist of it.
Mistakes all always seem to be made when processes are pushed to the limit.
