Black REE is not magnetic unless it's laden with Iron. If it is laden with Iron the REE turns red and the gold turns black as the Magnitite reacts with the metals. Take a magnetic gold necklace to the pawn shop and see how much you get for it.

There's about 10 different types of good gold. AU/FE is not one of them.
