If the freebies really wanted what they want they would pay for a premium membership. If they don't, then they really don't want it IMO.

Of the 500 people who had MACH boardmarked, I bet that 450 of them posted very rarely or never and that at least half of the remaining 50 were granfathered or premium.

So a case could be made that there would have been little change in posting or readership. It was definitely worth a try.

I agree and think you generally realilize the potential.

Get them in the door with a freebe...allow them a comfortable venue....give them the time to browse over the rest of the site at their convience and possibly discover other advantages on the Hub.....eventually some will start buying memberships.
Not to mention more people with diverse views who do view ads etc.
