sometimes the adding or removal of a market maker affects which institutions are able to trade the security, also visibility, foreign exchange, etc. The more MM's you have, the more volume and price there is usually.

In this case it doesn't mean anything because AUTO isn't a sole distributor nor a trading house, I just find it amusing as they never really participated at all which leads me to believe that if they are gone on monday that the firm itself was looking into trading the security.


Rarely, you can get hints of market action based on appearances or disappearances outside trading hours. IE: if you see several new MM's on a stock than the previous period before open, it will probably run.



Again, this means nothing for us, just that there wasn't enough volume to keep AUTO interested in trading here. They like higher volume, lower price stocks in this range.
